Tennis Team Time and Memorial Day

Monday, May 31, 2010

Let me tell you about my friend Ginny (3rd from the left)---she's amazing! She's a mom, a wife, an Officer in the Naval Reserves JAG, a school volunteer, Girl Scout Leader for two troops and the mother of one of my daughter's best friends.  Oh! And in between all of that and the endless other things which fill Ginny's days, she also plays on a tennis team. She asked that I come and capture some group shots of her her team to commemorate the end of the season.  These brightly dressed ladies practice and play matches several times throughout the week and in this crazy Florida heat! How about those great, bright tennis tops?

In honor of Memorial Day, I thank her for her service and am grateful for those who serve, have served, support those who serve and who have paid the ultimate sacrifice. Thanks to my twin sister Hilary (Full Time Air Force Reservesin San Antonio, TX), baby sister just promoted to Air Force Captain Pilot Kira Reyes stationed in Ramstein, Germany and baby brother, newly promoted Air Force 1st Lieutenant Kai Reyes stationed in Valdosta, GA.

Making Changes and Updates

Thursday, May 27, 2010

I've found that I am bogged down between trying to keep up a website and a blog. I really would somehow like to combine the two together.  You'll find blank pages here for a while as I make changes to my blog between shoots, edits and life in general.
In addition to sharing my experiences and my day-to-day life on my blog, I will also be providing a page for photographers looking to learn more. As some of you know, I'm self-taught with a love for the craft but I didn't learn it without some great sites and mentors out there.  I hope to help out more people who want learn more about their camera and get it out of the automatic modes. It's not as scary as it seems!
So, look for changes coming up slowly but surely!

My first beach shoot...

Friday, May 21, 2010

and I'm so excited!  The L children were so much fun! His amazing knowledge of cars impressed my 11 year old son. I mean, seriously! He can look at every model and tell you what it is and---oh by the way, even tell you about the recalls!  She posed like the talented dancer which she is and I couldn't get over how much she looks just like her beautiful Mom!  I am anxious to finish their edits and share these photos with their parents. It really was my first beach shoot and I take pride in this one!

The R Family Sneak Peek

Thursday, May 13, 2010

This beautiful family had scheduled sessions with me several times. Unfortunately, illness or weather just wasn't on our side. We finally had the opportunity to meet up on a beautiful Sunday morning. The park was still quiet and we were able to get some fun shots.  Here's just a sneak peek of some of their photos.

He's got the eye...

Thursday, May 6, 2010

When his Grandmother called to request a photo session for her 2nd grade Grandson, I was excited to meet him. Little did I know that Mr. H has quite the eye for photography and a love of art and nature. What a sweet young man I met this afternoon! I hope he got some great shots in the park with his camera!

Little Mr. T...

Thursday, April 29, 2010

I was thrilled when I received an email from this family requesting another photo session at a new location. This one was on a BUSY Sunday afternoon at the beach. It's been about 5 months since I last saw them and was so excited to see how much Mr. T had grown. He's so adorable, inquisitive and head-strong. I'd like to think that's me too! Here's a little sneak peek.

A lovely family...

Wednesday, April 28, 2010

This family was so great to work with on this beautiful Saturday morning. Mom was referred to me by another client after seeing some of my photos from a Christmas shoot.  We scheduled this session early in the morning. I am so grateful because I had no idea that there was a 100 year celebration planned at Alpine Groves. It would be packed full in no time at all! I truly enjoyed spending time with this lovely family and look forward to seeing them soon again!

The baby is married...

Friday, April 23, 2010

This is my brother Kai. He's the youngest of 6 kids in our family. He's the baby. He serves our country proudly as an Officer in the Air Force.
By the way, he's also the only boy.
Today, he married the love of his life, Meghan, and we're so happy for him. CONGRATULATIONS Kai and Meghan!
I'm not a wedding photographer and this is my first little go at it. Kai lives in GA, not far from me. I was able to get up there, enjoy the moment, grab some pics and now I'm back home to edit before heading off to Savannah in the morning to watch Kolby play in his tournament. It's a busy busy weekend!

Hey Soul Sister...

Wednesday, April 21, 2010

Okay, W is not a Sister, but isn't he a cutie? He entertained me today by singing Train's recent hit song and I couldn't get enough of this boy!  I taught him how to 'fist' shake. I didn't do any editing for his boo-boos but did a little de-saturation, just because it's fun. I really enjoyed W and his Mom's hug at the end of the session meant a TON to me! I can't wait to sit down and work with these photos, but in the meantime, I hope she likes the sneak-peek!
Oh yeah! And note to self: Next time you do an hour-long photo shoot, you may not want to leave your car door WIDE open. I guess I was so excited about working with W that I forgot to secure the car. No snakes and nothing stolen! Counting my blessings on that one!

Sweet Shoot!

Wednesday, March 31, 2010

The J and J children joined me for a photosession yesterday thanks to a referral from my first-ever family photo shoot. I was excited for the opportunity to work with these new customers and provide them with some great portraits of their children who are awesome close friends that LOVE game night! Love the colors that they chose! Each of their personalities are so great and Miss C departed saying "I'm going to miss you"! Hopefully we'll meet again!
In the meantime, I encourage you to educate yourself about Type 1 diabetes. Please visit http://www.diabetes.org/diabetes-basics/type-1/ to learn about this rare form of diabetes which affects the lives of children and young adults.
